Our Response to Coronavirus

ADC Reopens On May 1st

On May 1st Aesthetic Dentistry of Charlottesville (ADC) returns to normal operating hours. All
patients of record received an email highlighting our updated protocol for COVID-19 screening prior to
and upon arrival of their dental appointments. Some important notes emphasizing these enhanced
safety protocols are the completion of a separate COVID-19 health questionnaire and the taking of
patient temperature by one of our staff members prior to proceeding to the
treatment room. In addition to the changes ADC has made upon check-in, we also made some
important changes to our office space physical appearance to provide staff and patients confidence that
CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety
Administration), VDA (Virginia Dental Association), and ADA (American Dental Association) guidelines
are met.

Important Changes
  • We have minimized the number of chairs in the waiting room to permit social distancing rules to be followed and all chairs are spaced six feet apart.

  • All magazines, books and paper products have been removed from the waiting room.

  • The office waiting room and front desk is wiped and disinfected every hour.

  • Digital Thermometer and pulse oximeter are disinfected after each use.

  • Clinical staff members will continue to wear masks, gloves and protective eye wear during treatment. In addition to the above protective wear, staff will also wear a face shield.

  • Instruments are disinfected and sterilized after each use following the same guidelines and protocols as we have always used and per our SOP.

  • We ask that you continue to follow social distancing rules and maintain a space of six feet between people.

  • Hand sanitizer is stationed throughout the office for your safety and convenience.

  • Temperatures are taken with a touch free digital thermometer.

  • All staff members are screened with temperatures prior to the start of the workday.

  • Hygiene treatment rooms have been upgraded with a new High Volume Evacuation System to more safely remove droplets and aerosol particles created while providing treatment.

  • Each treatment room is wiped and disinfected after every patient following the same sterilization protocol as has been our standing operating procedure (SOP) prior to COVID-19 and remains effective in this current environment.

  • While in the waiting room, we ask that you wear a mask. If you do not have one, we have a disposable mask available for you to use.

  • The front desk is now enclosed with a protective glass window.

  • Front office staff will wear gloves and a mask while checking patients in and taking temperatures.

  • Different head coverings or gowns are available for each provider to use depending upon preference.

  • ADC will provide eye protection (safety glasses) during patient treatment to meet the eye protection requirement protocol. Patients may use their own eyeglasses or sunglasses.

  • HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) air filter (filters that are able to trap 99.97 percent of particles that are 0.3 microns) purifiers are used in every treatment room throughout the office.

What to Expect Upon Your Arrival to ADC

When you enter the office, there is a check-in station prior to the front desk where you will be asked to complete a separate COVID-19 health screening questionnaire and your temperature will be taken. If you are accompanied by a parent/guardian/companion, they will also be screened. While in the waiting room, we ask that you please wear a mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you.

To minimize traffic within the office, we ask that you arrive no more than 15 minutes early for your appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes early, please call the front desk at 434-984-3455 to see if your treatment room is ready.

Rescheduling Appointment Criteria

You may need to reschedule your appointment if you have any of the following:

  • Coughing, sneezing and shortness of breath
  • Had close contact with someone who has had these symptoms
  • Have had close contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19 or has had symptoms of COVID-19

We ask that you wait a minimum of 14 days before your next appointment if you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or have answered yes to any of the above.

If you have any questions, please call the front desk at 434-984-3455. If you have had any of the above AND have a dental emergency, please call the front desk at 434-984-3455 for further guidance.

Minimal Accompaniment Permitted

In order to minimize traffic within the office we ask that you do not bring anyone with you to your appointment. If you are under the age of 18, one parent or guardian will be allowed to accompany you to your appointment. If you are in need of an assistant, one person is allowed to accompany you to your appointment.
